I believe Dad also attended P.A.C.I.. Would love to be able to sit across from Dad and hear his stories about school. The one story I remember is... he had skipped classes and was hanging out at the local pool hall only to be caught by his father!!! Would love to hear from anyone that remembers Dad. Have an awesome weekend. |

A cousin of Mom's mentioned the reunion, I can't believe the awesome site you have put together. I'm not sure when Mom attended, it would have been in the 50's. She was an incredible person and is missed very much. If anyone has stories about Mom, I would love to hear them and share them with my girls and grandchildren. Have a blast next weekend! |

Mom was so looking forward to this reunion, unfortunately she passed away in May 2009, at White Rock, BC, at the age of 82. She loved Prince Albert and instilled that love in her family and grandchildren! She would pile the grandkids in her old red van and head to PA for summer vacations and camping at Waskesiu. |

Donna went through a phase, when you did not know what color of hair she was going to come to school with. I remember she had to come to school with blue hair once. I'm sure if she was still with us, she would be volunteering her help for this reunion. |

Muriel was the music director, coach, and accompanist of "the barbershop quartet" in 1962/63. (see mustached pic) Wish she could be with us, as the whole quartet will be present at the reunion. ( You might hope that we will not sing!) Graduating in 1937 |

One of the people I would like to have seen most at the reunion would have been Doug Primeau. We were in Grade 12 together (1966) and I think we laughed all year. He also was an awesome jiver and it would have been great to dance with him again. Many from your class will miss you Doug!! Hope others will write a note in memory too.jill |

Jack "Jake" WormworthAugust 15th, 1939 to May 14th, 1997
|
|
|
Bertrand John Wormworth Memorial PACI 100 Anniversary Jack ‘Jake’ Wormworth, who graduated in 1957, was my school and neighbourhood friend for 12 years. We started grade one together at Prince Albert’s west hill QueenElizabethSchool, and spent the next 12 winters and summers together in school and out. All during primary school his nickname was, of course, ‘Wormy.’ In the winter we played organized school and Pee Wee hockey, and pickup outdoor rink hockey almost every night and weekend, first at the Queen Elizabeth and then the West Hill Community Club rinks. We loved hockey and listening to the original six-team NHL games over the winters on radio, during the regular, reasonable season, as distinct from the NHL-for-TV games you get now almost into early summer. In grade eight we went out for our other competing love, real baseball, in P.A’s first year of service-club-sponsored Little League, which came with full, awe-inspiring uniforms. We could hardly believe our good fortune, Jake in the blue and gold Kinsmen uniform, and me in white, with grey and red, Legion colours. When we were not playing sports we were tearing around the west hill and back and forth to the Little Red on our bikes, and playing guns, and building huts in the bush and doing everything kids did back then during those wonderful post-war years. Following graduation Jake entered the Regular Officer Training Program, gaining an engineering degree at the University of Saskatchewan and earned his wings with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After university he continued in the regular Air Force, flying East Coast anti-submarine patrols and then becoming a ‘top flight’ test pilot on Canadair’s Challenger jet. Subsequently he spent two years in Indonesia seconded by Transport Canada to help develop that Asian country’s domestic flight program. In 1994, as a fine honour for a notable career, Major Jack Wormworth was awarded the prestigious Trans-Canada (McKee) Trophy for outstanding achievement in Canadian aerospace operations. Part of the citation dealt with his engineering work at the time in the area of aircraft de-icing. Former friends Richard Soyland, Robert Loucks and, possibly, Steve Hynes, are currently planning an annual Bertrand John Wormworth scholarship in physics for a worthy PACI student. During his school years some of Jake’s friends were Eric Nelson, Roy Giles, Ed Brown, Blane McIntosh, Bob Shoemay, Steve Hynes, Rod McNeil, Ernie Melnyk, Richard Soyland, Craig Cook, Jim Barnett, Bruce Marshall, Lorne Davidoff, Bob Loucks and Jim Hill. Earl Hill and Jack McDonald became friends when they all worked at Mr. McConnell’s and Bert Wylie’s Central Fruit and Candy Kitchen on Central Avenue, scooping ice cream cones and making milkshakes during the summers. He had many other friends, including female friends, because few people were as well liked as Jake, who had a sensitive, quiet, intelligent and unassuming manner, as well as a great sense of humour. Added to that, once we were 16, was his friendly but deadly cue at our Grotto Billiards hang-out. Bertrand John Wormworth was born August 15, 1939 to his parents Jack and Hazel Wormworth and grew up at 303-21 St. West. Unfortunately he passed away well before his time, in 1997, at age 57. His three daughters reside in eastern Canada and his brothers, Tom, and Frank, live in Prince Albert and Calgary respectively. By Eric Nelson, May 24, 2010. |
